Hi, y'all! I'm Sue Ellen from Texas, and I was named BEFORE the TV character on the old show, Dallas. lol
I'm a fire wife and homeschooling mom of 4. My son & oldest daughter have graduated, and I've got two more in high school now! I've been a quiet, country girl all of my life and a Bible-loving Christian for most of those years! I love to garden (veggies & flowers), I love animals and being outdoors. I’ve recently been learning how to embrace (as opposed to wishing I was different) being the slow-paced introvert that God created me to be, and our country lifestyle fits me just right.
Our little homestead includes dogs & cats, chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, and goats, and the kids add guinea pigs and rabbits. (Fun fact: rabbit manure doesn’t have to be composted before used on the garden! Bet you weren’t expecting to learn that today!) lol
I have a degree in Fine Art and worked in Advertising Graphic Design back in the stone age of newspapers... I dabbled in direct sales before I had children, but really began in this "Small Business Life" on May 4, 2011, when I joined with Lilla Rose Hair Accessories. Late one night, while I was nursing baby #4, I decided to take the plunge, sight unseen. I figured with this many girls, we were going to need a lot of hair accessories! And we have!
Since then, I have enjoy introducing women to the amazing accessories & hair care that Lilla Rose has to offer, and helping you find beautiful solutions for your hair. One of my favorite things is when a woman or girl puts a Flexi-Clip in her hair for the first time, then looks in the mirror (or phone) and is shocked by how GOOD her hair looks! I've seen women come to tears; I've seen them exclaim how long it's been since they thought their hair actually looked good; I've seen little girls light up when they realize that's them; I've seen friends standing by watching, exclaim over how good she looks. Don't we all need to hear, see, and feel that we're beautiful?!
In 2016, I was honored to receive a visit and interview with the founder of Lilla Rose! You can watch that old interview here, if you'd like. Since the beginning, Lilla Rose has been a very special place in our family. I've been able to travel and speak at national conventions, host the founder, and help put on regional conventions. I've met wonderful Lilla Sisters and teammates and literally hundreds of wonderful women who let me play with their hair at vendor events. My children have grown up without elastics and plastic claws, but with growing business sense and entrepreneurship.
As of 2024, Lilla Rose is no longer a team building party-plan company, but I continue to share my love of the product as a Legacy Flexi Rep & Online Affiliate, sharing my website link and selling the products at local craft & vendor events.
On July 31, 2020, and for four years, I partnered with Mary & Martha (Christian books, gifts, decor, serving pieces, cards, etc). Yep, I took the leap of faith to expand my business in the thick of the pandemic, because I loved the vision of M&M. That was a time when the whole world desperately needed some hope & encouragement... and I believe the world still needs it. Unfortunately, Mary & Martha also changed thier business model in 2024.
With so many changes to my businesses in early 2024, I searched for, found, and began my partnership with Jordan Essentials as an Independent Consultant! What first attracted me was their non-toxic hair care line, which fell right in line with the other products I carry at my booth. Then I discovered the Magnesium and essential oil combination lotions they offered and fell in love! I look forward to seeing what happens with this new piece of my business, and how I can help others with non-toxic solutions to their problems.
The more I've learned about toxic ingredients in bath & body products, the more committed I am to sharing Jordan Essentials!
I also serve on the Board of Directors and a teacher for our homeschool co-op organization, and our family is involved in our church. One of the highlights of my year is taking a group of teenagers to serve at the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Processing Center! I also facilitate a Scripture Writing & Encouragement group, where I hope to encourage people to spend daily time getting into the Word of God.
