We want our homes CLEAN...but we don't want that to include
Chemicals of Concern!
Parabens, PCBS, Dioxanes..all chemicals you want to avoid in your home. Watch as Norwex Chief Brand and Mission Officer, Amy Cadora, talks about ingredients and products that include harmful chemicals.
We will start to cover more specific chemicals that you want to avoid below!
CHEMICAL #1 to AVOID:
SODIUM HYDROXIDE
This chemical can be found in oven & stovetop cleaners and is connected to skin irritation & corrosion.
It's also connected to eye damage and respiratory irritation. That's not what we want when we clean in a non-ventilated area of our homes!
CHEMICAL #2 to AVOID:
Ammonia
This is a tricky one...you know where you can find it? Window cleaners.
Ammonia and Bleach when mixed together create a potentially fatal gas. So NEVER mix them.
When you spray a surface, mirror, or window with a cleaning product that has Ammonia, like glass cleaner, and then your kids or your dog lick that surface (don't tell me it's never happened 🤪) they are ingesting it.
If you use Ammonia to clean your floors, your bare feet and/or babies absorb that chemical into your body just from walking and crawling. Using just water and microfiber on these surfaces is a way better solution.
CHEMICAL #3 to AVOID:
BUTOXY-DIGLYCOL
Exposure to this chemical can cause eye damage & respiratory irritation.
It's odorless, colorless & flammable.
It hides in many stovetop cleaners.
CHEMICAL #4 to AVOID:
Bleach
Bleach is super corrosive and dangerous for respiratory health and lungs/eyes.
You do NOT want this in your home where a small child could get into it. And if it can't be around kids, I believe it doesn't belong in the house. My vote? Pitch the bleach.
The best replacement is to wipe everything down with a wet EnviroCloth and then polish the surface as needed with the Window Cloth.
I promise you can have a shiny, streak free home without the bleach!
CHEMICAL #5 to AVOID:
PHTHALATES
These can be found in anything with the ingredient "Fragrance." If a product has the word "Fragrance" listed, that word can be a distraction word for up to 4,000 different chemicals. This isn't always the case but most often it is.
There are NO laws regulating this ingredient for companies in the United States.
Phthalates are NOT found in any fragrances that Norwex uses. We have an entire list of ingredients that will not be used in our products called the "No No List".
