July - September 2026

Book of the Month

Every month this year, we have been focusing on a different category of book, and now we're talking about nonfiction!

Did you know? Nonfiction supports the growth of:

  • Confidence
  • Focus and attention
  • Reading stamina
  • Comprehension
  • Vocabulary Growth
  • Curiosity and inquiry
  • Critical thinking
  • Independence

When given the opportunity to choose their own books, 80% of first graders choose nonfiction.*

From animals to outer space, and from numbers to scientific discovery, nonfiction helps kids understand how the world works and how they fit in it. Each page connects what they read to real life, building deeper knowledge of the world around them.

Starminster

Above London, a hidden city lies in the sky, where special humans with wings live and soar. After spending her entire life in a rhubarb shed, is Astrid really meant to join them? Be swept along with Astrid into a breathtaking, magical world of incredible adventures and mystery.

This is the first book in a trilogy (the other two are on their way!), and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Age: 9-13yrs, $9.99

What We Offer

Summer is winding down...Where did the time go? 😅 All of the kids are back in school, I'm catching up on projects around the house, and book fairs are getting scheduled!

It is that weird in-between time when we are transitioning back into school routines, but it's still 90F+ outside, but we're planning for fall and Christmas activities at the same time. Also, with 4 kids in 2 different schools, the amount of emails/notifications I get daily feels like a job in itself. 😄

Hang in there, everyone! We will be adjusted to the craziness soon...right?

Blessings always,
—Rachel

Why Snowflake Readers? The name is primarily meant to honor my children, who came from frozen donor embryos, and the fact that I wouldn't have joined PaperPie (formerly Usborne Books & More) if it wasn't for them. However, I believe that every child, every current and future reader, has their own unique needs that books fulfill. You may be able to see similarities between one snowflake and another, but no two are identical.
